I will be sorry to see the forum close but a quick look at the number of threads and responses suggests that we are a very select group. I can understand that from a business perspective the forum isn't attracting enough interest.

My interest in Hi-Fi is now small, I spend more time with live sound and professional kit these days. I will therefore not be following you to Facebook, Instagram or other social media. I do however wish you and NVA well in the future.

I will be sad to see it go but traffic on all hifi forums is declining and therefore the ones with the smallest bases are the most affected. In recent years I have spent less time visiting hifi forums and more on music forums as that is what it is all about. I have been very satisfied with the gear I have for years (all the analogue components NVA) so music is the priority.

I am sad to hear this. However, i do agree that traffic on all of the forums seems to be in decline. There is some nice folks on this forum who will miss engaging with the other forum members here. I wish everyone the very best of luck for the future.

It will also be sad to see the forum go. I stumbled across HFS in 2016 when, with the Internet ,my interest in hi-fi resurfaced after being dormant for thirty years. I found PFM earlier that year and was put off by the flat earth nonsense which was the reason for my long sabbatal. I was accused of being deaf for speaking out against it. HFS was a breath of fresh air in comparison. I was intrigued by the muppet character who was posting a lot and talking a lot of sense. Believe it or not, at the time I had not heard of NVA or Richard Dunn! I posted about the flat earth and my magazine tiff with with Ivor T in 1980 which resulted in him vilifying me over two pages in Popular Hi Fi.

Shortly after this I thought I would give “high end” hi-fi a try, the NVA 30 day home trial period being the deciding factor. Unlike in 1983 when I heard the LP12 (not much in the way of alternatives back then) I became aware that the RIGHT more expensive gear did provide easily discernable sonic improvements over quality budget components. .Between 2017-19 I put together most of what I have now, the analogue components being NVA providing an open window to a quality digital source. I have never enjoyed music so much and with retirement in2017 having more time to enjoy it. I look upon the Internet and HFS as the launching pad. I was so pleased when Paul kept NVA going following Richards sad passing in 2019 and to have my amps upgraded to the latest specs at very reasonable cost.

Ha, typical that its closing now, as I've sort of just come back to hifi as my interest in it as 'kit' and maybe changing things is sort of on a very big wheel in my world that turns very slowly but always inevitably. I'm very much a receiver than a contributor I think (probably due to mainly just using the system so not trying and changing things much) but this forum in its guises over many years has been really enjoyable and useful in turn and I doubt any others will be quite the same but to try and keep up now I have joined Maverick and TAS as I think some others from here are there so at least the interest and the common sense may continue to seep out - anyway thanks and I'm sorry that it's going but understand the why

What a long, strange trip it's been ... !

NVA was my benchmark for Hifi sound from the mid 1980's and I was an admirer of the irascible and uncompromising Richard Dunn.

Still using NVA gear in various forms and the philosophy behind them is a basis for my audio adventures.

I'll miss this forum, HFS has been a major part of my interests for more than 10 years.

Thanks for the good times and success with NVA.

I've returned to say goodbye .
.
Hifi subjective was Richard and without him it just wasn't the same and never could be .

It was the best place in hifi fora land for 8 years or so and I lament the fact fora can now speak any old crap without somebody holding them to account. One of the reasons hifi is dying as a hobby is the absence of critique. Idea a is challenge by idea b , resulting in idea c. Dialectical materialism as forsaken hifi fora .

I do and shall miss all the people who made this forum so vibrant , including The Jammy .

In retrospect , it should have died with Richard . Thank you Richard , I miss you and will never forget the good times .

Well said DQ, all the best for the future
