Footie - sing when you're winning!

Yup, yesterday the wheels fell off the Liverpool wagon. In truth, it could have happened at any of the previous games, too. We have been riding our luck, and yesterday it ran out. We simply are not good enough in every area, except goalkeeping, and Ali was the only Liverpool player to come out of the game with any credit. At half-time, the stats said we'd had 71.4% possession, made 366 passes to their 148, and had a pass accuracy of 88.5% to 67.6%, yet we were a goal down. We were better in the 2nd half, but overall, I can't find any excuse to begrudge Palace the win. They "Liverpooled" us, in fact. I thought Fede had got us a point, but Palace kept on coming and, ultimately, had more self-belief than us. Something needs to change, but I'm not sure what. There are too many new faces, still trying to find their way, and we sold too many of the "old" faces we might have fallen back on, perhaps. Having said that, our back four only had one new boy - Kerkez - but they didn't exactly cover themselves in glory. Konaté still doesn't convince me after all this time, and is always one silly lunge away from a booking or a dismissal. He can be brilliant on his day, but is still too much of a wild card for my liking. VVD is still class, but I think the pressure is even getting to him. Kerkez? We're never sure which Kerkez is going to turn up: the good one or the crap one. Conor Bradley is a 22-year-old and is still developing; he needs a solid defence around him to be able to cover the odd, inevitable mistake, and, more importantly, to inspire confidence. He patently hasn't got that, and, in fact, sometimes looks like the most seasoned player in the back four. I could go on, but it's too fkn depressing. Slot is not without blame, either. His tactics are obviously not working, and he needs to sit down and have a long talk with himself. He needs to decide which is bigger, the club or his ego, because something quite radical needs to happen to the way we're playing.

It is evident that whereas Liverpool have regressed Arsenal have progressed and look like Champions. It can take time for signings with no Premiership experience to bed in.

Another win on the road for Tamworth. After being under the cosh for most of the game and escaping from a drubbing only by the poor finishing from a good Altrincham side, Tamworth made a few subs and scored two in the last 10 mins. Amazing.
Altrincham 1 - 2 Tamworth.
