Try sprinkling the gear with Holy Water, mate, but not while it's plugged in. A bit of the old self-flagellation should help with any urges you get to "improve" or "upgrade the system once it's built. ✝️ 🙏 ✝️
:ROFLMAO:

Joking aside, it's good that he wants to be able to listen to music on something that isn't a phone.

I'll sprinkle some Salisbury pixie dust inside for good measure 😁

The speakers I got given for my son are Wharfedale delta 5. There is very little about them on the Internet. 1980's chipboard offerings with awful plastic spring connectors on the back that only take bare wire. They had to go. Made a plate out of aluminum and fitted some nice binding posts out of my stash. Insulated of course so we don't get any amplifiers going pop in the night.

Drivers aren't rebated into the baffle but not sure I can be arsed to try and remedy that. The good things about these speakers
* they were free 🥳
* they are a closed box design 🥳
* the woofers are a whopping 8 inches 👌

They dont sound half bad at the low volume he listens at. The chipboard cabinet is adding a bit of bass to fill the sound out. Good enough for farming as we say.

My thirty five year old compressor has emptied its load for the final time 😂 A 110 litre, 4mm steel cylinder with rounded ends 🤔 The motor is shagged and the compressor unit was missing a piston ring so time to say goodbye.

But........if I was still buggering about making crap speakers then that 110cm x 35cm cylinder might come in useful ? 👺 I think I'll keep the tank and the rest can go to the scrap yard. Cut in two and with flat plate welded on the end, it would make a pair of 55 litre enclosures that could have an up firing eight incher with nicely rounded over baffle. Clean diffraction is very important as I found out playing with spherical enclosures on hifisubjectivist. Also, steel enclosures of this shape are extremely strong and resistant to flexing, which as we know, is extremely important for clean bass with no bloat from the boxes.

I'll have to stop this now before I get carried away.
