New Toys?

The 2.9 card took a long time to arrive from the US. I was not expecting it to affect sound quality ( the upgrade from 2.7 to 2.8 for the micro Rendu in the second system some years ago did not) but there is a subtle very noticeable improvement. It concerns the sound stage with a greater sense of separation and space. For £23 this must be the best vfm upgrade I have ever made. The cons are that the opticalRendu takes longer to connect and does not seem to reboot. I have contacted the distributer and Sonore but they are not very communicative and their customer care does not seem to be the best. All in all I am pleased with the 2.9 card and at such low cost am considering it for the second system although the improvement would be far less noticeable mainly due to the positioning of the speakers.

The 2.9 card has enabled me to make some progress with Lyrion/Docker, establishing recognition but no connection. In fairness I have not spent a lot of time on it as yet.
