You're in danger of stirring up a hornet's nest, Paul. People like all sorts of different music. Even the most poular artists will be loathed by some people. I tend to agree with you about Oasis, though; they never really did it for me.

All " bands" who do not play instruments ie rap and hip hop. I am tolerant of anything else even though it might not be my cup of tea. I think the lack of taste and appreciation of musicianship so common among young people today has a lot to do with the decline of the hifi industry. Will any of today's flavours of the month be remembered in 55 years time as are Black Sabbath and many others.

A little harsh, Genesis were a great band before Duke came out. The early stuff was great, but take another listen to Wind & Wuthering and Trick of the Tale, excellent.
Back on subject, I have no interest in modern pop, come to think of it I've never had any interest in pop music but heard Ed Sheeran on the car radio the other day, what!! He sounds like a girl singing something written by an 8 year old, how the hell has he become successful?
Genesis went down hill following the departure of Steve Hackett and became a pop group after Duke. Steve Hackett maintains the legacy and tours regularly. I have seen him on a number of occasions.
I do not like Ed Sheeran but far worse is popular at the moment. Oasis are overrated in the grand scheme of things but in the context of the 90s which saw a huge drop in quality compared to the previous decades they were quite good. I might have gone to see them on the come back tour but for the dynamic pricing fiasco.

I have both and play them regularly.
No Roses is one of the all time great folk albums. Her voice on the new album is very different, of course, but the feeling she puts into it is impressive.

It always seemed odd to me that my late wife was a huge Dylan fan, but disliked Bruce "because he [can't] sing".
I try never to say anyone can not sing as any professional like these two can . I do like some artists that have marmite voices , Tom Waits , Captain Beefheart being two so what I say is I do not like their voices and as that is the most personal instrument then we can all make a choice . I do have one other pet hate but did not add Morrissey to the list as he is often named by others .
