Speakers. What do you have? What have you had? What have you got on your wishlist?

My current listening speakers are Cube 1s at home and stacked Quad ESL57s in the workshop.
I actually have a shipping container which is mostly full of speakers (a couple of old pushbikes too.)
Previously I've had:
Cube3s*
Scansonic M5*
Optimus PRO LX5*
Linn Index
EPOS ES14
Rogers LS4a*
Goodmans Dimension 8*
Linn Kans
Linn Isobariks*
Kef 104.2*
Various models of Mission
Loads of others too numerous to mention.
(The ones with asterisks are still in my possession.)

The only ones I really miss are the EPOSs, they definitely had "something" but were replaced by the 'Briks.
The Scansonics could be the best compact speakers I've had - they even got me over my longing for another pair of Kans (which are more musi-specific - meaning they sound ace on certain tracks, but not all.) The Optimus from Tandy have the Linaeum tweeter, which is something special, but unfortunately the rest of the speaker doesn't live up to it.
Thanks for sharing with the group. I hope you can make the weekly meetings... ;)

What have i had...
Jpw minimonitors
Some big transmission lines that vented out of the top that my dad built in the late 80s
Linn index 2 which i quite liked
Kef q15 and 55. The 15s were nice, tue 55s were not.
Quad 11l. Loved them and i want some more of them
Mission 773 and 731 somewhere in the house in boxes
I have built loads of speakers, 3 sets of metronomes with fostex fe127e, dual mark audio chr70s and the last set which had faital drivers which i still have in a box somewhere.
My massive, sadly departed fane 15-300tc 15" drivered wardrobes. Aperiodic loaded, fettled over years. Cant have them in the new house because they are too big.... cabs have gone but i still have the drivers.

I havent had anything at all set up since chrismas but at least i have my headphone amp and wiim mini set up in my office so i do have something. Ill have to decide what to do when i finally get a system of some sort set back up, maybe go with the 773s then decide what to change to suit this place.. onwards!

Wharfedale Laser 60
Kef Coda III
Castle Trent
Royd Eden
Linn Index 2 on Ku-Stone stands
KEF Q55
KEF "egg" satellites with sub
My own designed Metronome speakers, with 4" Fostex full-rangers and twin Ruark subs
Scott Lindgren designed, 5 foot tall Metronome speakers, with 8" Fostex wideband drivers and supertweeters
Own design omni directional Metronome speakers called the "OmniMet"
Own design aperiodic speakers using 12" Fane triple cone full-range drivers
And finally a pair of Q Acousics 3010i. Tiny little things but they sound great and will probably see me out.
Can't be arsed designing speakers anymore; I'd rather build tube headphone amps.

Am currently listening through some Stirling Broadcast LS3/5A V3.2. It seems like I've always had a pair of small sealed box monitors around. 20250806_190857.jpg20250806_190837.jpg

They can play all day long. Am sure the dog walked past them and gave a brief, but nonetheless appreciative glance. ;)

I currently have a pair of Cube 3’s which are great - Thanks Dave!
Going back to my starting pair:

Wharfedale Denton.
B&W DM4
Heybrook HB 2.
Mission 609.
JPW 510 - doc modded.
Rega Kyte.
Arcaydis DM1.
Quad S1.
Quad S2.

The Heybrooks are my favourite on their dedicated stands which I had for about 12 years - really wish
I’d kept them.
Hopefully the Cubes will show the same longevity!

I didn’t think that list was too long really as it’s over a period of 51 years. I did also forget a pair of Castle Knight’s!

@Lordie8! I'm pretty much the same and over a similar timeline.

Celestion Ditton 33
Mission unknown model.
Epos ES14
Shahinian Obelisks
Cube 3's
Mark Audio Cesti
Quad 57's
Tuolihao Q8
Klipsch RP500M ii

I'm sure I've missed a pair out but at the moment I can't remember, it'll probably come to me. 🤔

Nice to see Heybrooks receiving recognition all these decades on. Had my HB1s for over twenty years. I remember buying them at the end of 83. Spent quite a bit of time auditioning them and a number of others at a similar price at the dealers. The choice was easy. To my ears, playing some of my favourite tracks, they sounded a lot better than the competition.

Complete from 1986 to today:

MAIN SYSTEM
KEF (don't remember the model number; a little big, on short stands)
Epos ES11
Royd Albion (current)

BEDROOM
System Audio (from Denmark; was their next smallest model)
Tekton 6.5 (with Fostex 167E driver) (current)

KITCHEN
Role Skiff (from the US; tiny, will consider their coming micro subwoofer)

Going approximately back through time in my main system, and undoubtedly not remembering some...

MBL 116f (had 'em 15 years now)

Infinity RS2.5 ribbon hybrids
Leema Xavier (my best cone&domes)
Amphion Xenon (rather horrible)
Audio Physics Virgo 2
Martin Logan CLS2z full range stats
Podium 0.5
Proac Future Point 5 (disappointing)
Thiel CS2.3
Yamaha 1000M (spanked by the Thiels)
Jim Rogers JR149 & JR150
Klipsch Heresy 2 (yuck)
Epos ES30 (surprisingly good)
Quad 57
Spendor SP1/2 (boring)
Rogers Export Monitor
Rogers LS3/5a + REL Quake sub (good!)
Apogee Caliper Sig
Electrostatic Research ER1
Proac Response 3 (the Response 2 were better)
Proac Response 2
Quad 63
Shackman Dynastats
Technics SB301
Sony SS7200

My next speakers?
I can't see myself wanting to change the MBLs.

Well will give this a go but not sure I can remember all of them

Mission 700
KLH 6
Acure Horns
Celestion SL600i
Harbeth Compact Monitors
Linn Sara 9
KEF 103 Reference
Quad ESL 57
LS3/5A Clone
Castle Harlech
Monitor Audio 18

Thinks thats all I can remember .

I looked up those (expensive) MBL speakers. How do you experience the omnidirectIonality?
There's an open 3D spaciousness and freedom from constraint to the sound. It doesn't sound like the music is coming from the speakers.

Some audio buddy visitors expect to hear an ill defined "cloud of sound" from the omnidirectional drivers, but it's not like that at all. It's immersive but we'll defined.

They do sound best when they are sited well away from the side walls.
