NVA The Emotive Statement CD Player

Hi all,
I am so pleased I discovered this forum!
I recently acquired the above cd player from the estate of a deceased and, though a lifelong audiophile, know little about it.
There seems to be limited information on the internet too.
Does anyone have one of these players or is able to tell me about it?
The unit certainly looks swanky but I am yet to hear it as I’m waiting for the remote control to be found!
Any info gratefully appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

When we purchased the remaining assets of NVA, in 2019, there was no documentation surviving for this item. There wasn't much information even on the previous forum, that I could see.

I'm guessing that it was discontinued in the late 1990s. Does it play?

Hi Paul,
It needs the remote control which the widow of the late owner is sure she has but is still looking. She says it does.
Her late husband and owner was a renowned musician.
The cd drawer opens like butter!
I’m itching to have a listen!
I have an Audio Note player at present. I’m guessing it may be a close run thing..!

Peculiar that you are dependent on the remote control to have the unit play!

I have in the back of my mind that Richard Dunn once wrote that the transport section of the player was a modded NAD 502 (which in turn used a Sony KSS 210A, according to this list). The 502 was new in 1994, if I'm not mistaken.

I'd say the remote control on the front of the magazine looks much like a NAD 502 control with a different label (I used to have the NAD 5440 player with the control of the 502), so a guess would be that an old, cheap NAD control from eBay should also work.

I could be wrong in some or all of the above.

Hi Helge,
Thank you for all that very useful information.
Yes, it’s certainly peculiar, not to mention annoying! There are no controls, apart from the cd drawer opening button on the unit.
But your post gives me hope! It would be such a shame not to hear this beauty!
I’m not terribly confident about the original turning up!
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks Slinger,
It certainly looks like a NAD 502 as Helge helpfully points out.
Probably worth a punt I’d say.
