Mary Wallopers at Newcastle City Hall on St. Patrick's Day. I think this was during a rousing version of 'The Merry Ploughboy'. My youngest lad, on my shoulders...

After a busy week, I was debating whether I had the energy to get up to Newcastle for The Steve Ignorant Band playing Crass songs at The Grove. I'm glad I did, they were on good form for an appreciative and friendly crowd...and its a very nice venue.

Saw Swedish rockers Bonofide at the Patriot. They were very good and in the UK to play at festivals, this gig being something of a fill in between events. The band were in the same pub as us before performing. They are not in the UK often and have commented that Brexit has made it difficult.

Last gig was The Musical Box last year, they did the whole of "Selling England By The Pound" and some perennial faves of Gabriel era Genesis.
It was an ace gig and I'd definitely see them again.

Saw Iron Maiden at Birminghams Utilia Arena on their 50th anniversary tour. It was quite an evening with them performing material from 1980-92. The songs were enhanced by stunning animations, not least the Rime of the ancient mariner. Bruce Dickinson changed costumes as appropriate for the subject matter. The two hour set passed very quickly. On such a hot day it was sweltering in the arena filled by a 12,000 capacity crowd. Free water was distributed to the audience for hydration and more preferential to the beer at an extortionate £9 a pint. The audience spaned all age groups a large proportion who would not have been born when the material was released. This was good to see. Do not have any decent pictures.

Little over a year ago, I saw Kneecap at The Grove in Newcastle with around 250 others. Earlier this year they headlined in front of 4,000 at the SSE in Belfast, in September they are headlining Wembley Arena, and this weekend I have no doubt that they will bring the house down at Glastonbury. Your day has come, lads...

Decent of the government to give the lads so much free publicity. If only Mary Whitehouse, Lord Longford, and Malcolm Muggeridge were still with us, they'd already be #1.:ROFLMAO:

I saw them in Helsinki, Finland, two weeks ago and I was very pleased about the show. One of the best Maiden shows for me.
